Julie Ross

Biography

 

Australian-born actress/singer JULIE ROSS began performing at an early age in ballet and piano concerts, school plays and musicals. This continued through high school,† during which time Julie also joined local amateur dramatic societies, and studied the guitar and singing.

 

On completing high school, Julie auditioned for The Independent Theatre School of Dramatic Art (which became The Sydney Acting School) and was accepted into the three year Drama Course, studying under the direction of Australia's leading drama teacher, Gillian Owen, and studied dance and movement with Australian legend, Keith Bain OAM.

 

After graduating, Julie worked in the ensemble of Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar, touring Australia and South-East Asia. She also appeared in a few Aussie soaps, before the travel bug bit and she packed her bags, heading for the USA and Europe and eventually settling in the United Kingdom. Here she studied at the Actors Centre, London, with the likes of Anthony Bowles, Mary Hammond, Gillyanne Kayes, Jeremy Fisher, Nina Finburgh, Heather Weir, Jackie Pert, Scott Williams and Michael Bernardin. She also worked backstage in West End shows to learn more about the business in the UK, and has appeared in many shows here herself, playing lead roles.

 

Julie is also an excellent actress/singer and cabaret performer ,and has a highly acclaimed one-woman show Donít Ask the LadyÖ!, which she has taken to numerous London venues. She also performs with the West End-based Actors Rechoired, and also with the City Lit A Cappella group.
